I host a podcast called “Chasing the Goal” with the legendary Jack Piatelli for New England Lacrosse Journal. (Search and subscribe at your leisure - it’s the best podcast in lacrosse.) The process of working on that podcast is way different than other podcasts that I have hosted, guested on, and produced. A big part of that difference is that I actually have an active producer on the Chasing the Goal pod to reign me back in, edit me, and make me look smarter than I am - his name is David Yas, and he has his own business producing podcasts.
I bring it up because Yas uses a scheduling tool called Calendly for our guests and studio time. Now, I may sound like an old here, but I find using a new scheduling tool annoying at best and outrageous at worst. New applications? How dare you, I can't even use Canva. I’m a writer, damn it. Let me write. I don’t have a daily planner - I have an outline. Except just writing has never been my job.
But that gave me an idea.
We’re going to open up the email and have all the subscribers ask me any lacrosse-related question they can think of. It can be about anything. After all, I’ve been doing this long enough that I’m technically an expert on a lot of things in the sport.
I’ve coached lacrosse now for almost two decades.
I’ve been a lacrosse analyst for 15 years.
I’ve written about nearly every level of the game for just as long as either of those endeavors.
And, really, I want to connect with all of you. I founded this project because my creative well was overflowing and I needed a place to get all of my lacrosse-related thoughts out into the world. And that helped to bring all of you here, and I want to pay that back and forward.
So, here is the link for the official LacroCity email.
(Is it LacroCity@gmail.com? I mean, maybe.)
Ask me anything, I’ll answer honestly and with pith and/or mirth, preferably both, and post it here anonymously, every month. I will literally answer any question about lacrosse. Playing, stringing, coaching, recruiting, training - I really have a wealth of experience in all of it and I’m more than happy to share any advice I can give. Like a modern-day Dear Abby, but if Abby had ADD, a mischievous glint in her eye, and a massive distrust of authority/Twitter.
Happy 2024, everyone. More announcements and initiatives to come.
Thanks again for subscribing.
